Aussies seek partnership
Almost all the top 4 biggies in the Australian wine industry –Constellation, Pernod Ricard, Cissallo and Fosters are exploring joint venture and distribution tie ups with Indian wine growers. Increasing cost of labour, overcapacity and competition from countries like New Zealand are affecting the industry according to John Griffith, President, Western Australia Wine Association.
 
2600 containers go sour
Grape producers from the 3 southern states of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra are facing a major loss due to several European countries have rejecting their consignment valued at Rs.273 crores.The reason for this is the use of chemicals to preserve the fruit which is not allowed in Europe.
 
Delhi can now sell liquor in malls
Delhi government has awarded licences to 9 applicants to sell liquor in malls so as to make it more accessible to buyers. There is also a demand by the local restaurants association to bring down the legal age for liquor as different states have different criteria Delhi has a minimum age limit as 25 for drinking liquor whereas in Tamilnadu it is 18 years of age.
Delhi is also faced by the government's need to increase taxes the present price of Red Label is Rs.1200/ $ 27 and Chivas Regal currently selling at Rs 5500/ $ 122

Aeronautical charges stay put

The recently constituted Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India has disallowed increases in airport charges from the 2 major airport operators – Delhi International Airport Ltd and Mumbai International Airport Ltd. Both the airport operators in Delhi and Mumbai had plans to increase the airport charges by 10 % with retrospective effect from May 2009.

 
Goa airport goes ahead but Rajasthan takes a back step

Jet Air tops complaints registered
Of the 8 domestic airlines, Jet Air recorded the maximum number of complaints in May 2010, topping the score board at 690 passenger complaints followed by SpiceJet with 234 complaints. The least number of complaints were registered against NACIL (Air India and Indian Airlines) with 47 and Paramount with 4 complaints
